In june 2009 we did the four counties ring and we loved it ,im not sure if i prefer it to the llangollen or not , steve definitely does . We were very lucky with the weather , lots of sunshine and a little rain.My favourite part of the ring was around Nantwich area , Its a lovely pretty place with lots of unusual houses and buildings going towards the town centre from the marina . Depending on which way you are going ,you have either got to do ,or have just done the 15 locks that are close to Nantwich , im not sure now if this is the run of locks they call heartbreak hill or not ,i know its somewhere on the ring ,,anyway its not half as bad as the Tardebigge flight going towards Stratford on Avon . Once you get near to stoke though it becomes a lot more industrial due to all the potteries but is very unkempt on the canals through it , though they do appear to be doing some work on it , it should be a lot nicer the next time we go through Stoke .We did not feel very safe mooring up around there though but had to for the 1 night only .
The Estruria marina or wharf , not sure what it is known as is a bit of a devil to get in and out of though ,,,very tight angle to manoeuvre and jam packed with boats .
